AI in Outline is built into the product rather than bolted on. Search can answer questions in plain language with citations back to the documents it drew from, and the MCP server lets the assistants your team already uses, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Codex, read, draft, and update documents directly in the workspace.

However we recognize that every organization has different data requirements, as such all AI functionality is opt-in. Nothing is indexed, embedded, or sent to an AI model until an admin turns the feature on.
