# Audit log

Outline automatically tracks all events related to account access, documents, and settings changes; including the IP address actor, and authentication type. Audit logs are currently retained for 1 year. Configuration of the retention period will be available soon.

# Access

Workspace admins can access the audit log from **Settings → Workspace → Audit Log**, here you can browser recent events and filter them by event, IP address, or the actor name.

# API

Audit logs are also available through the API in the `events` namespace, please see the [developer docs](https://www.getoutline.com/developers#tag/events) for more details on listing and filtering audit logs through the API.
