# Billing

To access the billing section:


1. Click your workspace logo in the top-left corner.
2. Select `Settings` from the menu, then click **Billing**.

  
From the billing settings you are able to:

* View your current plan details
* Manage invoices, billing address, and payment methods
* Cancel your subscription

# Plans

# Billing frequency

Customers are billed for the number of *active* users within the workspace. Active users can be viewed from **Settings → Users**, every user that is not suspended or a pending invite is counted towards the seat total.

## Monthly billing 

Your account is charged on a monthly basis for the number of unsuspended users in any role on your workspace.

## Annual billing

When you upgrade to a yearly plan you will be charged for the total number of active users in your workspace at that time. This establishes your subscription date and billing cycle.

Adding users during the year that results in a plan change will result in a pro-rated charge applied on the next monthly billing cycle, which is tied to your annual plan’s start date.

# Management

## Change payment method

You can update the card details on file at any time from the `Change payment details` button on this screen. You will be asked to re-enter the card details in full.

Controls are also available to change or add a billing address and billing email to receive receipts and invoices.

## Cancel subscription

Workspace admins can cancel a subscription directly from the billing page. Cancelation will apply at the end of the current term.

We do not provide refunds for cancellations mid-subscription. If you are uncertain you are ready to commit to a full year, we recommend starting on a monthly plan first. You can switch to yearly at a later date when you are ready to commit longer term and take advantage of the discounted rates.

## Data deletion

If you would like to remove data as part of cancelation the ability to permanently delete all data is provided under **Settings → Details** at the bottom of the page. This control will only be available *after* canceling your subscription.

By default data is retained for a minimum of one year post-cancelation.

A 30% discount is available for non-profit organizations - in order to qualify please contact [hello@getoutline.com](mailto:hello@getoutline.com) with proof of your non-profit designation as provided by your local government body.

Eligibility is determined at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to approve or deny access to this discount program at any time, for any reason.

## Education

Outline is designed for teams to collaborate. A 30% discount is available for groups within educational institutions at all levels - high schools, colleges, and high-level educational institutions are all welcome to apply.
