You can connect a Google Analytics 4 measurement ID to send document views and analytics from the workspace to your own Google Analytics account. You can use this to track which documents are popular and how much usage your knowledge base gets. This feature is available on all plans and licenses.

Setup

Navigate to the Google Analytics dashboard, click on the settings cog in the bottom left to access the Admin area and then click on “+ Create Property”.

Steps 1-3

Fill in the property name and click Next filling in the various fields required to setup the property through steps 1-3.

Step 4

Choose “Web” as your platform, you can enter your workspace’s Outline domain as the Website URL and name the stream something recognizable like “Web”, “Wiki”, or “Docs”.

Finish setup

On the next screen you’ll be shown the “Measurement ID” beginning with “G-”. Copy this ID and paste it into the setup inside Outline under Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics and click Save.

Setup is now complete, you don’t need to copy any HTML or tags, Outline will inject the correct tracking code into your workspace’s pages. It may take a few hours for data to appear in the Google Analytics interface.
