Add an icon or emoji to any document (or collection) to represent the content and make them easier to find in the sidebar and list views.

Choosing an icon

In a document or collection, simply hover over or focus in the title to see the “smiley” button to the left where you can click and choose either an icon or emoji to represent the document.

If an emoji is chosen for the document it will also be displayed as the favicon in the browser tab instead of the Outline logo, making it easier to find documents when you have many tabs open.

Custom emoji

It is also possible to upload your own custom emoji and icons – click on the plus button at the top right of the emoji picker or as an admin manage custom emojis in Settings → Emojis. Your custom emojis will be available to use as icons, inside of documents, and in comment reactions.
