# macOS App

Outline is available for macOS Intel and Apple Silicon and can be downloaded in a variety of formats, if you’re not sure which your need we recommend using the Universal installer. Once installed you can access Outline from the comfort of your dock. The desktop app will also download and install new updates automatically in the background.

# Debugging

The source code of our desktop apps is not currently made available.

To find the logs from our desktop apps, look in the following location on your computer – this can be useful when tracking down bugs:  `~/Library/Logs/Outline/main.log`

# Disable auto-update

There are two options for disabling auto-update of the desktop app in a managed environment. Note by disabling auto-update you may miss out on critical security updates. It is important to keep the app up-to-date through other means.

### **Option 1: MDM configuration profile**

Deploy a custom settings payload for the `com.generaloutline.outline` domain. In Jamf Pro, use “Application & Custom Settings” and upload this plist. In Kandji, Mosyle, or Intune, use the custom profile option and paste it into the payload content.

Generate new UUIDs with `uuidgen` before deployment.

### Option 2: **Script or manual test.**

Run this as the user, or with `sudo` for all users on the Mac.
