The sidebar

By default the left sidebar navigation contains all of the Collections that you have access to, access to Home and Search.

Stars

It’s possible to “star” (think favorite) both documents and collections – when starred they appear at the top of the sidebar and can also be re-ordered. Note that starred items are only visible to you, each user can have different stars.

Further customizing

The sidebar can be collapsed with the shortcut Ctrl + . (Cmd + . on macOS) or by clicking on the arrow to collapse that appears when hovering your pointer at the edge of the sidebar.

Drag the edge of the sidebar to resize and make it wider or narrower, the app will remember your preference for the future.

Command menu

The command menu

The command menu is accessed with the ctrl + k shortcut (cmd + k on macOS). From the command menu you can quickly search documents in the Workspace and access most actions that you would otherwise use the pointer to access. Just type to search, or scroll to get a feel for which options are available.

Keyboard shortcuts

Outline comes with a wide variety of keyboard shortcuts to make editing documents and navigating the workspace fast and seamless. For a list of available shortcuts click on the keyboard icon in the bottom right of the app, or type ? .
