Outline is available as a desktop application, from the browser, and on mobile as an installable web app (PWA).

Desktop

macOS

Outline is available for macOS Intel and Apple Silicon and can be downloaded in a variety of formats, if you’re not sure which your need we recommend using the Universal installer:

• Mac Universal Installer

• DMG Intel

• DMG Apple Silicon

• ZIP Intel

• ZIP Apple Silicon

Once installed you can access Outline from the comfort of your dock. The desktop app will also download and install new updates automatically in the background.

Windows

Outline is available for Windows 10 and 11. You can download the desktop app as a NSIS at getoutline.com/download. Once installed you can pin Outline to the Windows menu bar for quick desktop access. The app will also download and install new updates automatically in the background.

Browsers

To access Outline in a browser you should go to the subdomain that was assigned to your workspace upon signup, this can be found in the welcome email. If you are signing in with SSO then it is also possible to sign-in from app.getoutline.com.

We recommend Chrome or Safari and also maintain support for other popular browsers such as Firefox, Brave, and Arc.

Mobile

On mobile you can install the app to your homescreen with the following steps:

iOS

Open your Outline workspace in Safari the same as on desktop. Tap the Share icon, then tap the Add to Homescreen button.

Android

Open your Outline workspace in Chrome, tap the menu icon (three dots), then tap the Add to Homescreen button.
